Massage Pregnancy

There’s nothing like the feeling of a good massage to loosen tight muscles, soothe over-worked and over-stressed muscles, or just plain old feed the need to pamper yourself. Massage therapy is good for people of all ages and has been proven to have beneficial physiological and psychological benefits that increase exponentially with consistent, preventative therapy sessions. You may be wondering if massage is safe to have done when you are pregnant. The answer is absolutely! Our licensed therapists here at Lake Pointe Chiropractic and Wellness Center are well trained in the art of a prenatal pregnancy massage and will have you feeling relaxed and sensational in no time.

Your breasts may be swollen and tender, your tummy may have started to grow, and you may be asking yourself: “How in the world am I going to get into a comfortable position?” No need to worry, there are tables specially made with cutout areas and custom pillows for your belly, and for your breasts too.

Some women choose to skip the aromatherapy oil because of heightened sensitivity to scents, or because their skin is more sensitive than what it was pre-pregnancy. You can choose to skip the oils altogether, or ask to have a test whiff and see if you prefer one certain scent over another, or to see if it seems to have a negative effect on your skin.

A few of the numerous benefits of pre-natal massage are listed below:

  • Headaches can be relieved by having your therapist concentrate on your head, neck, and shoulders. Maintaining optimal levels of stress relief through massage can lessen the frequency of triggering a migraine.
  • Carrying the extra weight of the baby can create muscle tension. Encouraging blood flow, which in turn increases lymphatic flow to the afflicted areas, helps your body carry away toxins and metabolic waste, and also provides more nutrient rich oxygen.
  • Backaches, swelling, leg cramps and fatigue can all be reduced through prenatal massage.
  • Along with the changes of pregnancy come various aches and pains you may not have noticed before. These aches and pains are relieved by the release of serotonin, which is your body`s natural pain killer, and is stimulated through massage.

Your body has taken on the miraculous feat of growing a baby inside of you. Pamper it because you both deserve it. Please contact us and we’ll set you up for an hour of feeling like you’re in heaven.
